This DRO kit works on any 7x10, 7x12, 7x14, or 7x16 lathe made by SIEG, which includes virtually all the mini lathes sold in the US and most of the mini lathes sold world-wide. My mill is the standard Central Machinery (Sieg X2) I also own a Mini Lathe, from Cummins. (Sieg 7 x 12) I've some experience in electronics and programming (my job), so I've been playing with the Arduino for a while. It is a wonderful and simple platform. I only payed $100 for my little mill used and had to spend another $100 for a motor, It's payed for itself over the years. If I were to buy another mini-mill, it would probably not be a round column mill like the RF30.

Few years later I got Mini Mill from Harbor Freight - a variation of Sieg X2 mill. These two machines are very good when tuned well. I was able to achieve the precision of 0.001inch what is enough for my needs. When the mill arrived to my shop it was mostly assembled but I decides to take it apart, clean, lubricate and adjust the way I wanted.

This article describes how I added an easy-to-make DRO (Digital Readout) to the cross-slide of my 7×12 mini-lathe. This DRO works great and seems to be good quality. I just finished installing on my Harbor Freight mini mill. Absolute best deal for the money. Similar setups are twice the price. Pretty fast shipping considering it came from outside the U.S. Only reason I could not give 5 stars is the instructions are absolutely horrible.
