Re: Anyone tried converting a Drill Press into a M. Jtice, you can get a "cross slide vice" meant for drill presses through Harbor Freight. Can't say what the quality is, but I ordered one for $40 and woodworking places have them as high as $70-$80 for the same thing. HF's shipping is like $8-$9, too.
