Electrochemical Machining: Definition ... - Learn Mechanical

The Electrochemical machining process is based on Faraday's law of electrolysis. Faraday's law of electrolysis states that when two electrodes, anode ( +ve) and cathode (-ve) are placed in an electrolyte the mass of the metal deposited on the cathode coming from the anode is directly proportional to the potential difference applied across the electrodes.
