If I put a box one block away from my sag mill (or smelter for that matter) and I connect the two with an item conduit (conduit on box side set for extract, sag/smelter set for inert, on a side set to pull), I get nothing. But if I reverse (set the side to push, with arrows on the conduit pointing towards the box) it'll feed the box no problem.

Igneous extruder makes cobble, SAG mill turns to sand, crusher crushes to gravel, SAG turns gravel to flint, crusher crushes flint to gunpowder. It all gets dumped in the DSUs, where an inventory manager turns it into TNT and stores in the final DSU.
