Even a 8x30 baby Grizzly bridgeport is over $7000 Canadian landed. Yes, I would have loved a Excello, but any used machine would have involved a much greater rebuild and cost twice as much to start with. I even know where a Richmond #4 with an optional head is. They are an excellent British milling machine.

Other than that, it is a fairly tight machine, has about .01" backlash due to low quality ball/screw I ASSume. Other than that, they'll get the job done. Just not as enjoyable as doing it with something better. I also do not recommend their shitty vises, because, well, they're shit. Glad I could help you with an unrelated machine. :flipoff2:

Part of the reason that I didn't do the CNC mill conversion earlier is because it seemed like such an exercise in turd polishing. I could add servo motors and ball screws, but it'd still be a cheap import mill. Don't get me wrong. That little milling machine has paid for itself five times over on the simple and occasional jobs I've done.
