Now I know why Darex recommended CBN wheels for the M5. I got one from Darex and put it on the point splitter and it was a revelation. Runs perfectly true and since it is a plated metal wheel, it does not wear away like an ALOX wheel. I liked it so well I got another one for the left side.

I bought this drill bit grinder from a friend who had two of them. These M5 drill grinders have been discontinued for over 20 years, yet they still remain hot items whenever one appears on eBay, Kijiji or Craigs List. The current replacement model from Darex will cost you around $4,000! That's a lot of clams to sharpen a few drill bits.

I had friend with a Darex and CBN wheel. He bought the drill grinder to use as a tool grinder with the CBN. Man did that CBN wheel work nice for sharpening drills. I did about 100 drills in a bunch of sizes in about 2 hours.
